SUNNYVALE, Calif., April 27, 2011 - Fortinet (NASDAQ: FTNT) - a leading network security provider and the worldwide leader of unified threat management (UTM) solutions - today announced that it has acquired TalkSwitch, a leading developer of VoIP telephone systems. The acquisition is a step to help further expand and enhance Fortinet's product offering and reach into the multi-service business gateway market, with products that integrate multiple functions, such as voice, data, and video, as well as security, into a single device.

TalkSwitch is a privately held company focused on the development and delivery of VoIP phone systems to companies, home-based businesses, institutions and franchises with up to 64 phones per location. TalkSwitch IP PBX systems handle VoIP and traditional connections with analog or IP phones and include a robust set of features. The company has sold more than 100,000 products through a global network of more than 1,500 resellers and distributors. The innovative line of TalkSwitch products has won numerous awards, including Best Business VoIP Product from Small Business Computing, Best Channel Vendor and Best Channel Product from Business Solutions Magazine. TalkSwitch is also a two-time member of the prestigious Pulver 100 list of companies having the biggest impact on the VoIP industry.

In acquiring TalkSwitch, Fortinet will expand its product portfolio and reach into the multi-service business gateway market. Fortinet will also leverage TalkSwitch's global sales channel to complement its existing integrated business gateway appliance, the FortiGate Voice-80C. The FortiGate Voice-80C combines the functionality of a multi-threat security gateway, VoIP gateway, IP PBX, router and switch into a single, integrated device to reduce cost and simplify management.

"Security is a critical component of multi-service business gateway devices," said Ken Xie, founder, president and CEO of Fortinet. "We believe that TalkSwitch's unique offering, combined with our existing end-to-end security innovation, will provide us with new opportunities and a greater ability to support the security and VoIP needs of both small-to-medium business and enterprise branch customers."

"Fortinet and TalkSwitch share a similar vision when it comes to providing feature-rich integrated solutions across multiple markets," said Jan Scheeren, vice president, TalkSwitch Division of Fortinet. "Fortinet's global reach and strong innovation focus can help us expand and further penetrate our key markets and extend the the capabilities of our VoIP products."

The financial terms of the deal are confidential and the deal size is immaterial to Fortinet.
