Fortinet

Delivers the Only Advanced Threat Protection Solution of Integrated Components from Datacenter to Edge to Endpoint that are Recommended by NSS

SUNNYVALE, Calif., August 5, 2015 - Fortinet (NASDAQ: FTNT) - the global leader in high-performance cybersecurity solutions, today announced its FortiSandbox results from the NSS Labs Breach Detection Systems (BDS) Group Test an independent, real-world, third-party assessment. In the tests, FortiSandbox demonstrated the optimal combination of protection, performance and price, earning NSS Labs coveted Recommended rating. This important third-party validation further demonstrates the efficacy of Fortinet solutions in protecting enterprise customers from sophisticated cyber threats. Earning this latest rating also establishes Fortinet as the only company to deliver an integrated, end-to-end Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) protection solution with each component independently validated and Recommended by NSS Labs.

The NSS Labs BDS test utilized a rigorous testing methodology (established together with leading vendors in the industry) designed to reflect the challenges faced by IT professionals in detecting previously unknown and often targeted attacks engineered to circumvent conventional endpoint and perimeter security solutions. When put to the test, Fortinets FortiSandbox detected the majority of advanced exploits and malware within minutes, delivered gigabit throughput performance, and achieved these results with the overall lowest total cost of ownership (TCO) among the competing products.

Fortinets FortiSandbox is a key component of the companys innovative Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) Framework that includes FortiGate Next Generation Firewall (NGFW) and Next Generation Intrusion Prevention System (NGIPS), FortiWeb Web Application Firewall (WAF) as well as FortiClient Endpoint Protection. These integrated products have been independently tested by NSS Labs against other leading vendors and have been found to deliver superior protection, performance and price, with each component ultimately earning NSS Labs Recommended rating.

It is a complex and dynamic threat environment facing enterprises, with cyber criminals seeking entry at many different points and using many different techniques, said Mike Spanbauer, Vice President of Research at NSS Labs, the Breach Detection Systems Group Test focuses on the most sophisticated attacks we see to give a true measure of how effectively each device handles the threats most likely to bypass other security controls. Combining those results with NSS Labs other tests, like next generation firewall (NGFW), Web Application Firewall (WAF) and Endpoint Protection (EPP), enables organizations to determine what solutions and vendors will provide the best protection that meets their individual cybersecurity requirements. Fortinet is the only vendor to earn individual NSS Labs Recommendations for NGFW, NGIPS, WAF, BDS and EPP.

Perpetrators of advanced threats utilize numerous strategies in order to compromise target networks, and pose a significant challenge for organizations to protect against. With stakes this high, it would be a mistake for decision makers to rely on security vendors own marketing in order to assess the effectiveness of those vendors security solutions, said John Maddison, vice president marketing at Fortinet. Thats why Fortinet participates in regular, independent, third-party testing for an objective assessment of what customers can expect in their production environment. We are proud to deliver integrated APT protection that is NSS Labs Recommended from data center to edge to endpoint.
