Fortinet - a market-leading network security provider and worldwide leader of unified threat management (UTM) solutions - today announced that four experts from its FortiGuard Global Security Research Team will be sharing their insights on the current malware landscape at Virus Bulletin's VB2009 conference on September 23-25, 2009, in Geneva, Switzerland.

Members of Fortinet's security research team will present the following papers:

* "Fighting cybercrime: technical, juridical and ethical challenges," Wednesday, September 23, 4:20 p.m. Speaker: Guillaume Lovet, Threat Response senior manager.
* 'I am not a numero!': assessing global security threat levels," Thursday, September 24, 10:40 a.m. Speaker: Bryan Lu, FortiGuard project manager.
* "The hackpacker guide: an in-depth look into custom run-time packers," Thursday, September 24, 5:00 p.m. Speaker: Xu Yang, FortiGuard project manager.
* "Botnet-powered SQL injection attacks: a deeper look within," Thursday, September 24, 4:20 p.m. Authors: David Maciejak, IPS analyst, and Guillaume Lovet

Introduced in 1991, the VB conference is considered the anti-malware event of the year. The conference represents an opportunity for experts in the field to share their research interests, discuss methods and technologies and set new standards, as well as meet with - and learn from - those who put their technologies into practice in the real world. Only 38 of more than 160 proposals were selected by the VB2009 committee for this year's conference program. The strong presence of Fortinet's industry experts comes in recognition of their major contribution on the latest findings on global Internet threats and attacks.
